Syleena Johnson has become as a distinctively forthright R&B artist equipped with a powerful voice. Her first recordings appeared on a mid-'90s album of duets with her father, unsung soul great Syl Johnson. She made her proper debut in 1999, after which she signed with Jive for three albums that reached the Top 20 of Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop chart.
