Tascam Us 122l Drivers For Mac

I've got a Tascam US 122 and it will not work with Yosemite. I've spent months searching for a solution, but there doesn't seem to be one. I can't accept that. Tascam's official line is:'The US-122 dates back over 12 years now.As explained, the hardware used by it does not make it possible to operate with current Operating Systems. It was supported by Mac OSX up to 10.3 and Windows XP 64.' I've read that the problem could stem from the fact that earlier Mac operating systems were 32 bit, and with Yosemite being 64 bit, it won't work. But it will work on 64 bit Windows systems. I've tried every driver that Tascam has available for download in the hope that one might just work, but no dice.
Most of the bonus software that comes with the box (Cubasis, GigaStudio 24) couldn't be installed on my Mac G5. Finally, you obviously don't get the number of.
It ran flawlessly on OS X 10.5.8 for years, despite that being unsupported. And yes, I could just upgrade. The unit is fine.
I know it's still drawing power because the Phantom light still operates. I absolutely refuse to add this to landfill. So my question is: Is there any way I can 'trick' the Us 122 into thinking it's a compatible unit? I did wonder about trying to give it the firmware upgrade for a compatible unit, but I couldn't find any info about that.Apologies if I've posted this in the wrong place. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm afraid you've just hit that point where it's not going to work on anything newer.Manufacturers will only keep producing compatible drivers so long as it's reasonably simple for them to keep doing so; for instance if there was a current & an obsolete interface that could both use the same driver set presumably as internally they'd be using the same base chipset.I've a drawer full of old audio cards, going back to the 90's. PCI, firewire, you name it - not really sure why I hang onto them any more, except for the fact there's nothing at all wrong with them that a new driver wouldn't fix.My current Line6 UX2 is probably not long for this world either. It has new drivers for Sierra, but they stopped updating the input amp simulator software a long time ago, so it's only a matter of time.On the upside, chances are a new system would actually have far better DACs & be lighter on the system, probably lower latency too.The current replacement for the US-122, the right now has a buy-back offer for your old hardware though US-only so it might be worth having a look.
I've just spent most of the day on the Tascam help-line, trying unsuccessfully to solve the following: if anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it!I've just bought a Tascam US-122L as an audio interface for my MacPro. When I open an FCP project (latest version), the audio plays in source clip or timeline indefinitely, so long as I don't stop it or scroll through it. As soon as I do that, the audio disappears and refuses to return, although video continues to play normally. We've re-installed the Tascam and its Firmware twice, downloaded the latest upgrades, and ensured that the sample rate matches the FCP clips (48kHz) - all to no avail. ITunes plays happily through the same setup, and unplugging the USB (tried all available USB ports) or switching functions on the Tascam prompt a good pop from the speakers, so it seems to boil down to some incompatibility between the 122L and Final Cut. Tascam suggest it may be a 'latency buffer issue' but aren't familiar enough with Final Cut to address this - and neither am I! Suggestions gratefully received.
Jfesper,Ah, yet another victim. The bottom line here is that there is no such thing as a pro quality USB audio interface. FCP wants to talk to audio interfaces with a small buffer size to keep latency to a minimum and keep it in sync with the video. So you can't change the buffer size the way you can in an audio-only app. If the device drivers can't handle it, then the audio craps out. This really shows up when frame scrubbing. My advice is that you return that unit. If you like Tascam, get one of their FW units.
If you want something really good, the RME Fireface line is practically unbeatable. The Fireface 400 probably meets your I/O needs:Good luck. Jfesper,Ah, yet another victim. Thanks very much Randall, I had a horrible feeling it might be something like that. Forgive my ignorance - I'm an editor of long-standing but only just started to invest in my own kit - there's one thing I don't understand. Until now, on the recommendation of other editors, I've been using a lowly Griffin iMic to perform this I/O function through USB. This performed perfectly adequately as the link between Mac and mixer except in one important respect: it introduced a lot of system noise into rough commentary recordings, a high-pitched whine. It was because of this that another techy colleague recommended the Tascam. Now, all the advice has come from editors with G4 or G5 Macs who've been working happily with their setups: could this be an Intel Mac Pro issue? Jigsaw, the UK suppliers of the Tascam, had this thought too.Best, Steve.

It just has poor audio quality. I've had various Griffin gizmos over the years and they've all been really stable.Honestly, the quality of code written for drivers for audio interfaces is all over the map.
The problem seems to be amplified with USB stuff because no one bothers to offer a professional solution for USB.Good luck. I have traveled the same road as you. I wish I had seen Randall's response a month ago. After months of correspondence with Tascam, they finally suggested I exchange my unit for one of their new FW units. The sad part is, their website specifically states that the US-144 works with FCP. They were very nice about it, here is part of their reply;'I am sorry for any inconvenience, the US-144's drivers are conflicting in Final Cut Pro at the moment, which is something we are working on.

A couple of products to consider that I tested personally and work are the Fireone, a new brand new product of ours that was designed by frontier that is a control surface, computer interface with 2 ins and stereo line out and 2 headphone outputs for only $299.99. You can see more of this product at:Another product to consider is the FW-1082 which is also a control surface with 8 motorized faders and 10 ins and 4 outs with SPDIF I/O for only $599.99. You can view that product here:Again sorry for any inconvenience and I hope this helps.' After showing my vendor this email, they agreed to exchange my unit for one of the above.
Wish I had seen your stuff earlier.Although it sounds like you've probably already taken care of your issue, I leave this here for others who might be searching (as we were).
